Summary
First of all, let’s touch upon the main issue here. I assure you that I am not going to change my opinion of Rick and Morty Season 7 at all. At the time, Adult Swim only provide the first two episodes of the new season, and I maintain today what I said back then: Yes, indeed, those two episodes were absolutely bad. They simply didn’t show their own merits and do not added up to the overall plot. It was also enough to make me panic for the future of Rick and Morty.
However, the seventh season of the TV series was soon overtaken by the improvement that followed. Finally, we realized that by the time we got to Episode 10, Rick and Morty is still working at a high level and the show is actually evolving both emotionally and intellectually in its post Justin Roiland era.
If you haven’t been noticing, Rick Prime is a multiversal character who killed Rick’s wife and then used the sci-fi technology to delete her from every single universe in the history of the universe. Constantly focusing on revenging Rick Prime has been our main way of getting back at him since Season 1, even though it was not fully explain until much time later. By Season 7, this event finally took place but with a couple of smart tricks.
The first part of the episode 5 was the origin of Evil Morty (another famous variation), a kind of preparation for what comes next. At the end of the episode, Rick only attains revenge with the help of Evil Morty which makes his blood-soaked victory seem completely hollow. Thus, we jump to the back of the summer Rick and Morty season 7.
