What is A Client?
A client used on home and corporate networks is any computer hardware or software that needs access to a service provided through a server. Clients are often thought of as a requesting programs or users in a client-server architecture. End-user devices typically include desktops, laptops, and smartphones.
In a client-server model, a requests a service or a resource from a server in a computer network. The server can be located inside or outside the buildings.
How does a client interact a server?
Clients interact with servers requesting data or resources that they cannot provide in a server architecture. Clients and servers can remain located in different areas and connected via a network. They can also be on the same machine and connect via inter-process communication.
A distributed application framework divides tasks among servers and clients. The client can perform functions commonly referred to as the client side, while the tasks that a server can perform are referred to as the server side.

Clients and servers communicate using a request-response messaging model defined by a communication protocol such as Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP / IP). The protocol defines the language and the dialogue models used. For example, TCP maintains a connection between the client and the server until the end of a message exchange. TCP determines how application data is distribute, packets transmitted and received, and lost packets handled. Client-Side Vs Server-Side

Types Of Clients

Thin client. These thin clients are highly dependent on a server for resources and most of the data processing.
Hybrid clients are a combination of thin and heavy clients. This processes data locally but relies on a server to store persistent data.
Zero customers. Zero clients are thinner and more cost-effective than thin clients. These devices do not require any configuration and have nothing stored. They also consume less power than heavy or light clients.
Client-Server Examples
Examples of client-server: relationships comprise web, file, and email servers. A web browser remains essentially a client that requests sheets from servers on the web. The browser is the client that sends the requests while a server in another location returns the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) file. The computer that processes the request and returns the HTML file is a server.
File servers are computers responsible for storing and managing data files and allowing users to exchange information over a network without physically moving files. Examples of a file server include a network-attached storage device or a separate computer hosting shared files.
